I Want to Lose Belly Fat! Should I Use the Treadmill Or Elliptical Trainer?

!: I Want to Lose Belly Fat! Should I Use the Treadmill Or Elliptical Trainer?

I get this question all the time: what's better for weight loss -- the treadmill or the elliptical trainer?

Well, the lawyer's answer I'm going to have to give you, is it depends.

First of all, it depends on what type of cardio that you're doing. If you're doing a slower, longer duration type of cardio (upwards of 30 minutes), I would have to just go ahead and say the treadmill, and here's the reason why.

The treadmill allows your limbs to move freely and move through their own range of motion without being restricted.

Whereas the elliptical trainer, just by nature, having your feet on those pedals and hands hooked to the upright handles, you are forced to move through the machine's determined range of motion.

Frankly, it's impossible for any manufacturer to make a machine that perfectly works for everyone's different body types. The way that you move on an elliptical trainer may not match the person who it was sort of designed for.

These types of movements, when you're restricted and you're doing the same movement over and over and over again, it can often lead to overuse injuries in the muscles and joints, and that's what you want to avoid at all costs.

The treadmill actually allows you, then, to move through your own body's range. Your hands aren't fixed on anything and your feet aren't fixed on anything.

Even a simple activity like walking - even though it may seem like you're every step is the same, there are actually little, tiny differences in every single step, and that is what actually prevents your body from getting those overuse injuries.

Not to mention, you'll end up burning more calories because you have less support and you're forced to balance yourself.

In short, when you're doing a longer duration type of cardio workout, 30 minutes or more, I would go ahead and say the treadmill will be more effective. You will burn more calories, you will lose more weight, and you will lessen the chance of injury.

Now, if you're sprinting or doing some sort of interval training - that may be a situation where you want to use the elliptical trainer because it is easier to change speeds quickly. Which is the key to an effective sprinting or interval workout.

Now, if you're looking for the real deal. The coolest, newest and most effective way to burn fat with your cardio workouts. And I'm talking about burning fat from your trouble spots - you have GOT to try this program: Target Stubborn Fat - It's a FREE report covering the ultimate way to do cardio - no matter what equipment you're using.
